Axis Translation Matrix
Calibrating steering axes in arcade environments requires mapping 900° wheel rotations to gamepad emulation axes using anti-deadzones between 0% and 20% and linearity coefficients up to 1.6 to prevent controller-centered snap-oversteer.
Verified configuration baselines for mapping 900° rotational hardware inputs to compressed, linear game controller axes. Use these exact coefficients within your input wrapper configuration files (.ini) to stabilize handling and eliminate snap-oversteer.
| Hardware Architecture | Anti-Deadzone Value | Linearity Coefficient | Max Saturation Limit | Operational Target Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Logitech G29 / G920 / G923 | 15% - 20% | 1.0 (Linear) | 100% | Forces immediate center-axis engagement past physical gear slop. |
| Thrustmaster T300 / TX / T-GT | 3% - 5% | 1.2 (Mild Exponential) | 100% | Smooths out dual-belt tension over center transitions. |
| Entry Direct Drive (e.g. CSL DD / R5) | 0% | 1.4 - 1.6 (Aggressive Curve) | 90% - 95% | Dampens hyper-reactive motor response to prevent violent straight-line oscillation. |
Implementation Note
Because arcade software scales steering based on vehicle velocity, the Linearity Coefficient must be increased as the wheelbase motor torque scales up. If your rig feels unmanageably twitchy at high speeds, increase your wrapper's linearity multiplier by increments of 0.1 until the steering column self-stabilizes.
